I wake up in Brandon’s arms.
Confused, I blink against the sunlight filtering through the blinds, and wonder if there is anything close under the sea as this sensation of lying warm and still in the security of a friend’s grasp.
A friend. Is that how I see Brandon now? I suppose that will be useful for my final end to make him fall in love with me. That seemed to work with Calypso, at least.
Then the light filtering into the window startles me out of my daze. I was supposed to go to the ocean tonight!
Though, last time I went to the sea, it rejected me.
I close my eyes as the betrayal washes over me. How ironic it would have been for the queen of the ocean to die from its own waves. How much Cerce would have rejoiced.
Cerce, whose power is so strong, it does the one thing no one else has ever been able to do: prevent me from speaking my mind.
