Agents:

Weekend Briefing: Launch Day!

Welcome back, agents. Welcome to the (re)release party for Kristian Clark and the Holy Heist!

Kristian Clark is back (against his will), with a new cover, new format, new edits, and a new five-page comic strip. He is not ready to take on the world again, but Felicity sure is as only a manic pixie girl femme fatale can be.

Also, do any of you know/remember what D.D.T. means in fifties slang? Comment your answer (bonus points if you include the only appropriate response).

Kristian doing anything in his life:
(also, why he's a bit on the reclusive side)

“You don’t even have to come up with the plans.”

I shake my head to try and stop the words from echoing in my mind as I shove my hands into the pockets of my nineteen fifties vintage coat— to compliment my matching brown suit, though not my modern boots— that I wear both to satiate my strange affection for that particular decade and to ward off the autumn chill.

You won’t even have to come up with the plans. What a nice way Liam had of telling me I wasn’t even in charge of my own team anymore. The team I founded. The team I dismantled.

The team I’m being called back to— but not as the leader.

And that’s not even the worst part.

Grabbing my revolver, I take it out of my left pocket and aim it. I shoot two bullets, one in each of the back tires of the Maserati speeding away from me.

Such a shame.

The gorgeous car continues forward a few yards before skidding to a stop. Then I stride forward to the shotgun seat. Just in time to hear a different kind of shotgun going off.

“Blast,” I mutter, dropping to the ground to avoid being hit and rolling underneath the car to the other side. Then I climb up and shoot around it at my target’s accomplice.

- From Chapter One

He’s a capable in all things but romance.

She’s determined to recruit him one kiss at a time.

One soul saved. One life spared. Two souls bound together for life.

I thought I left my past as a special agent behind me. The government has other ideas. When the terrorist group that I specialize in flares up again, it’s time to get the team back together. There’s Garret, our muscle who I never really trusted in the first place. Robbie, the new guy and tech called in to replace my fallen friend. And Amelia, our team con and the love of my life . . . who is intent on converting me to her new religion.

Our first mission seems simple enough: find and steal a relic before the NEOs can use it for their own nefarious purposes. Only, it’s not simple because we’re not the only ones after it. Worse, there’s a rogue agent who calls herself Felicity who keeps getting involved in the messiest ways. Between her evening gowns, futuristic guns, and cryptic messages that say she knows more about me and my past than even I do, I know only one thing: I don’t trust her.

No matter what, though, I’ll complete my mission if only to thwart the NEOs. And this time, I’ll make sure all my agents get back to base safely. Even if it means having to kiss the wrong girl a time or two.

(That he always forgets)

I stop in my tracks and turn very slowly to see the pink-haired woman sitting alone at one of the tables and making the red dress work for her with all its flashiness.

“Yes, you, handsome.” She gestures with one finger for me to come to her.

I find myself walking toward her, under the spell of the conjuring finger. Then she pulls me into the booth next to her.

“You’re really good at what you do,” she whispers.

“Well, thank you. This is actually my first time as a waiter.”

“At being a leader, I mean.”

I back away. “Who are you?”

“A connoisseur, so to speak. And you’re definitely one of the better pieces I’ve come across.”

“Excuse me?”

“And, quite frankly, I want you to win.”

The audiobook is in production!

And so is the dust jacket hardback!

What did I tell you?

“Now, I’m not completely sure—”

A gloved hand grabs my shoulder and turns me to face a now un-netted face.

I drop my gun on my desk. “Amelia?”

She smiles in a rather un-Amelia style. “The answer is everyone if you continue to let yourself be puppeted. I just thought I’d give you a head’s up.”

“I don’t understand,” I say, still looking her up and down, smog in my noggin.

“Oh, Kristian,” she says before grabbing my tie and pulling me forward, bringing my lips right into her waiting ones.

For a moment, I’m lost in the fantasy of kissing Amelia. But then the smog clears, and I knock her bonnet off.

Revealing curly pink hair.

I pull away. “Who are you, why are you here, and why are you pretending to be someone else when I don’t even know who you are originally?”

The good-guys, the bad-guys, and the wild card— it's the ultimate game of cloak and dagger . . .

Kristian Clark, private eye, thought his days as a special agent were behind him, but when he's drafted into action, he finds himself reunited with his old team— and painful memories of why they broke up in the first place. But as he plunges into mission after mission— from a "holy heist" to babysitting a young hacker to going undercover in a cult— Kristian find that everything he tried to leave behind is coming back to haunt him with a vengeance, and then some.

First there's the mysterious woman who knows more about Kristian- and his past- than makes sense while using science fiction weapons that don't make sense period. Then there are the shady powers-that-be who are responsible for drafting him back into this world to satisfy their own nefarious agendas. It's all Kristian can do to keep from being pulled into their games as he tries to figure out who to trust and what to fight for, even as the trap put in place to destroy him is set with a ticking clock.

The Bachelor Missions is a three-book omnibous of The Man on the Run, Season One: Kristian Clark and the Agency Trap.

Get it in either ebook, paperback, or hardback

"Normal life and romance are difficult enough for a secret agent, but time-traveling doppelganger girlfriend-wannabes who use futuristic weaponry were not covered in the training courses. Jes Drew's The Bachelor Missions follows our hero, Kristian Clark, through three separate but connected espionage adventures with plenty of romantic difficulties. Because these stories are set in the real world, characters plainly discuss Christianity and some common arguments for and against the faith. Still, God-talk and two conversion scenes remain light in favor of the stories' light and humorous tone—like Men in Black but without the aliens."
