This book was incredible. A college-level textbook, we read it together as a family and not only learned intricate details of multiple ancient civilizations' legal systems, but also comments on what our own democratic republic and my beloved nation, the US, borrowed. The author very expertly supports the view that US law most heavily drew upon the Hebrew Law given by God, and his thesis that even other civilizations besides the Hebrews generally began monotheistic as well, but then degraded into polygamy. An excellent, intelligent book perfect for college students, theologians, historians, and even families to learn, think, and discuss together.
