Review of The Aftermath by Amy Matayo

The first book in this series had a kind of serious undertone, I suppose, since the characters were fighting for their lives on a deserted island. But since it was a deserted island, it was also kind of escapist. Islands are good places to be. So, anyway, I went into this book expecting a lighter tone.

A lighter tone is not what I got. These aren't spoilers, since it happens in the first couple of chapters, but- in the first couple chapters, someone dies, someone goes missing, someone gets severely injured, and someone loses their home and livelihood!!!

So, if you want a thought-provoking story about people trying not merely survive, but pick up the pieces of life after a disaster, this is it.
